Whilton Mill Kart Circuit to Get New Kerbs – Photo!
By news ~ August 5th, 2006. Filed under: Kart Racing News.
Will Dendy has sent us some exclusive photo’s of the new kerbs being built at Whilton Mill. This work coincides with the announcement that Whilton Mill will be having a track extension!
The size of the kerbs suggests that they are designed to cut down on kerbing! According to Will, kerbs are being built at Zulu 2, and the entry to The Boot. There is also a suggestion that a large kerb will be built on the exit of the last corner!
Here is an exclusive pic of the work –

We will get the lowdown on Wednesday to see if the new kerbs at Whilton Mill make a big difference.

We raced the OEKC round at Whilton this weekend and experienced the kirbs for the first time. They are impressive! You don’t wittingly hit them a second time, as they un settle the kart and slow you down. Which is fair enough, and presumably why they were put there. On a practical point it has made passing into the boot less common, as you can’t gain extra room on the inside if needed, by running your left front wheel onto the kirb.

Im part of the Whilton Mills karting club and I think the kerbs are great, but if you drive over them (which I dont think you will) the engine literaly comes out of place, which I saw someone do.
