Super KF Crossed With Formula A? BRC Create Uber 150cc Kart Engine!
By Karting1 ~ February 19th, 2010. Filed under: Kart Racing News.
What do you get when you cross and Formula A with a Super KF and then add some steroids to the mix? Well BRC Engineering, famous for their 250E Superkart Engines, seem to have the answer. They have been developing a special 150cc direct drive KF style engine for the North American dirt karting market, and it looks awesome! It’s a KF style 150cc engine with a power valve, however it isn’t in TaG configuration making it far less complex than a KF. Is this the route KF should have gone in the first place? The clutch chaos that plagued KF in 2007 and 2008 would have certainly been avoided.
First dyno runs suggest 45hp+, and with further developments we can only imagine how powerful this engine could be!
Check out some shots of the first development engine. In the picture the engine is using a 30mm KF carb and KF Exhaust

With a possible market in the normal sprint karting scene we’ll keep you updated with further developments of this engine.

The best engines have already been created in years gone by.
Everyone just wanted to be modern with TAG & Fancy water cooling, all of which should be ban’d from karting & we should return to 100cc aircoold glory

3 things: 1) Looks shweeeeeet, 2) Why – its basically a 100cc engine but with 50cc more and a bigger carb SO why not say, lets go back to 100cc instead?… and 3) Crankcase looks A LOT like the Iame Reedster (Or Reedjet… Can’t remember which is the KF one)

Its most likely that this motor will use a clutch. Normally a jackshaft mounted clutch is used for the dirt /oval racing.
Clutch “tuning” and adjustment is seen as an integral part of racing in those parts !

Latest dyno results from this motor are giving 55+bhp ! running Dual carbs and alcohol fuel !
Oh and it is not a IAME crankcase, ..its all billet machined.
