Schumacher Tests at Lonato with TonyKart!
By Karting1 ~ December 9th, 2006. Filed under: Kart Racing News.
Michael Schumacher was snapped testing a KF1 spec TonyKart up at Lonato a couple of days ago. But could it be on a permanent basis? TonyKart do have a vacancy recently left by Davide Fore.

Here’s a picture of him racing at an indoor event recently. If you notice he is wearing the same gloves and helmet as above, so that puts away any doubts about whether that’s really him in the above picture.

Michael Schumacher is a member of the CIK Karting Advisory Group. And they had some say about the direction of karting towards KF1. So this test does make sense. One of Schumacher’s main focusses in the group however was cutting cost, but as you can see the kart he is driving has front brakes, sticky tyres, and a very expensive new KF1 Engine. Is that his idea of cost cutting?
We can probably expect to see Schumacher doing some more karting over the next few months, and it wouldn’t be totally out the question to see him competing next year at the Karting World Championships again as he did in 2001.

[...] Alan Dove found this on Yahoo! Sports – Michael Schumacher testing what he says is a Vortex KF1 engine. Even Strawberry Racing haven’t got a test of a KF1 yet! [...]

If there had been any sense used when writing this aritcle on the new engines and about cost it might of made some sense.
To race decently in Formula A or ICA currently you need a minimum of three engine idealy at least 4 which you rent at around £400 each.
To do Snr max its looking like to be the most competitive you will need to buy a new engine as the 06 engines are slighty faster with more bottom end and everytime you send them away they come back even faster. Some people are going to say if you leave them they get quicker and quicker but if they knew anyting about engine tunning this just means they have been badly tunned. They can not run at the front with more than 10 hours on.
The new eninges you are only allowed 2 engines to do 4 days racing and testing on so they have to last. The softer the tyre the better because currently it looks like the KF1 engines are going to be around 1.5 seconds quicker than a current formula A, or at least th pcr engine, which is fastest at recents tests.
The down side is that the engine will not be availabe to hardly anyone until the end of january as this is when the homologation is and even then there is an extension.
And who are Strawberry racing!! They will be one of the last British teams that races abroad to get one, as they are a complete let down with organisation and preperation. If you’d race with them you’d understand
