Conclusions from Day 2: It’s obvious that Gary Catt is in superb form, and with arguably the best package, and a 100% heat win record, he is looking ultra good for the overall title. Two 2nds, and a 1st place finish in the heats means Ardigo is right there and it will probably be a straight fight between him and Catt for the World Karting Championship. Kozlinski is looking really strong and if he gets a good pre-final is definately in with an outside shot.

Davide Fore has had a disappointing day by his standards with a DNF, 10th, and 6th. But we can expect him to come on strong tomorrow.

The two Kosmic drivers have looked very consistent and Bollingtoft is looking like he could be a thorn in the side of the TonyKart pair.

However, even though throughout the day a few drivers have looked to challenge the speed of the TonyKart/Vortex packages of Ardigo, an Catt, it will take something special to take the title of either one of them.

Last year there were 4 different engine manufacturers in the top 5 for the pre final grid, and this year it’s a Vortex whitewash. It looks as if IAME, PCR, TM, and Maxter have some real work to do if they are to bridge the gap!

But this is the CIK Karting World Championship, and that means anything can happen!

Continue below for today’s heat reports>>

The big news is that, somewhat predictably, Vortex have completely dominated KF1 qualifying and locked out the top 5.

Gary Catt is top of the time sheets for timed qualifying, with Marco Ardigo in 2nd. They are then followed by the Kosmic Team pair of Nikolaj Bollingtoft, and Benjamin Bailly, with James Calado in 5th. Mark Litchfield has done well to get 8th. Surprisingly reigning World Champion Davide Fore is down in 18th, and Armand Convers down in 23rd!

Heat 1 has finished and the first major casualties are Kazeem Manzur, and Davide Fore who retired on lap 1. As predicted, it was a TonyKart/Vortex whitewash. Catt won, from Ardigo, and Calado completed the top 3!

Heat 2 of the day see’s another Vortex powered kart come out on top Nikolaj Bollingtoft. However Kozlinski looked strong and managed second place, with Bollingtoft’s team mate Bailly coming in third. Kozlinski managed to get fastest lap, but it was .3 down on what Ardigo did in the previous heat!

Update in he KF2 World Cup. Will Stevens won his opening heat, and Flavio Camponeschi won the other. Both running Vortex engines, but it seems a lot closer between manufacturers.

Heat 3 for KF1 and Gary Catt gets another win. He is looking very good for the title. Bollingtoft got 2nd with Calado making it a Vortex 1-2-3. Will Vortex actually lose a race today?

At last! IAME take a victory away from Vortex! In Heat 4 Cesseti took the honours, with championship favourite Ardigo in second. Kazeem Manzur was rapid however and is now looking strong!

To say Gary Catt has had a good day would be the understatement of the century. He took the Heat 5 victory and that means he carries a 100% race win record into tomorrow, and is looking comfortable. Again it was a good race for Vortex as they took the top 3 places!

Heat 6 was the final heat of day and Marco Ardigo won his first heat of the day. Cesseti was in 2nd until being demoted by Bollingtoft.
