Road Legal Kart!

By Karting1 ~ July 3rd, 2006. Filed under: Kart Racing News, Karting Bandits.

That’s right, a road legal kart! I have lucked across some footage of a road legal kart, and you must check it out. I am not sure what kart engine it uses, but I think it may be some form of moped engine, I am not sure.

The kart does look a bit rediculous, but you can forgive the designers for that. It is definately going under the kart bandit section though!

The footage looks as if it is taken of a German car show, so I don’t understand a word they are saying. If you speak German feel free to translate any details that are described about the road legal kart!

The road legal kart can do 70km on a tank of fuel and costs 3500 Euros.

Thats all the translating that I can do since I havn’t been studying German for long. Hope it helps.

Thank you very much! I wonder what they say about reverse parking! hehe

OK guys, here’s a bit more:
It’s a 100cc 2-stroke made by Kreidler, a very old name in moped engines (thought that business had died ages ago). It’s tuned to give 7.9 hp with a claimed top speed of 75 km/h (yeah, right).
The funny bit is that they admit it would never have been road legal in (West) Germany without EU harmonisation. Sounds like rules were adapted probably to accommodate the Trabants and all the other garbage eastern Europeans used to drive.
The even funnier bit is that they claim already to have sold 150 of these things (with a target of 400!).
