MSA British Karting Championship stays Formula A, and Rejects KF1 for 2007!

In the latest meeting of the ABkC (Association of British Clubs) it was decided that the MSA British Karting Championship will remain Formula A 100cc for 2007. This means that the new CIK 125cc TaG class – KF1, will not be introduced into the UK until 2008 at the earliest
Graham Smith – ABkC Secretary had this to say about the desicion on the UK Karting Notice Board
“Very few countries will run the TAG in their national championships, not even Italy, although the Masters will. Even the manufacturers have warned there will unlikely be enough motors around to sell to all the countries in the first year. Our British Champs starts 6 weeks before the first CIK round, who do you think will get preference for engine supply?”
This decision will allow UK competitors to have an extra year to evaluate the new KF1 engines in Europe and see how they perform. With questions over the speed, and reliability of the new CIK 125cc TaG engines this decision must come as a relief to some of the UK competitors. However, some are worried that the UK will be left a year behind Europe and will suffer in the long term
