Latest ABkC Rulings!
By Karting1 ~ September 24th, 2006. Filed under: Kart Racing News.
The latest ABkC (Association of British Kart Clubs) newsletter has been released. Many of the latest ABkC decisions will effect a large proporation of competitive British karting. Here is a summary of all the important bits. -
“ 100 National engines are to be restricted in some way as to their maximum revs, possibly via an inlet or exhaust restrictor”
This superb news for anyone who wants to run 100cc engines without the worry of 21,000rpm rebuild times.
“Formula A, ICA and JICA will continue to use 100cc engines but the new regulations for the CIK 125cc TAG engines for the replacement classes of KF1, KF2 and KF3 will be referenced in the Gold Book.”
We already knew that this would happen, but it’s nice to see it in words.
“ Only Formula A, ICA and JICA will be permitted to use the new CIK rear protection system in place of the ‘British’ rear bumper.”
This sounds like bad news. It seems the MSA will allow these new bumpers to be run in the ‘elite’ classes. I fear that this means it won’t be long before they are made mandatory.
There’s some other stuff about licences, and rules changes. The full ABkC Septemeber Newsletter can be found here.
