As well as the overall British Karting Championship the ABkC KF2 National Championship was up for grabs at the last round of Super 1 held at Fulbeck, Lincolnshire. In stark contrast to the KF1 lads this title was won in more of a silky smooth ‘Prostesque’ fashion by Welshman Jordan Chamberlain . A second in the first final ensured the title was his.
He spoke to Karting1.co.uk to chat about how he felt “Yeah, I feel quite happy. Relieved that it all paid off and all went to plan and finally secured the British title”.
The weekend went pretty smoothly for the new champ as he explains “I think we were setting the pace for most of the weekend, so I stayed quite relaxed. We put it on pole in timed qualifying and got a 1st and 2nd in the heats, so yeah I was pretty confident, it’s gone alright!”
A rare moment of counter-steer for Mr Smooth himself and KF2 Champ Jordan Chamberlain
On what was the key to this years championship he said “Yeah, obviously you’ve got to be consistent, win races, and also I think by being in Williams motorsport, all the guys in there are fantastic. We have a great team and we all have fun. That’s the main key – to enjoy yourself. If you’re not enjoying yourself there’s no point in doing anything.”
Where does he go from here? “Realistically I would like to go into cars next season but if we can is another thing. It’s a big step going from karts to cars with budget and stuff we need to try and seek sponsorship to do so”
