CIK Release SKF/KF1 Entry List – Big Names Missing!
By Karting1 ~ April 1st, 2009. Filed under: Kart Racing News.
The full extent of the problems facing the CIK European Championship have been made clear as the CIK have released the entry list for 2009. Many big names are missing including Marco Ardigo, Arnaud Kozlinski and Davide Fore.
Even though the low entry numbers (24) have already been announced by the CIK the full extent of the problems were not clear. The championship is now made up mostly of private entries and some good satellite teams. Given the current state of economies around the world a few entries may not compete in the whole championship. With only 21 entries in SKF, and 3 no KF1 the CIK European Championship really can’t afford a big drop-off.
With rival championships – WSK/GPO/FKS – now really coming to the fore it is clear the CIK really need a change of direction to keep pace with the product they provide. They have yet to release numbers for the World Championship, and the worry is that with it being so far away in Macau we may even see more of an issue regarding entries.
KZ2 however seems to be holding up very strong. In a bid to cut costs a move away from KF and into KZ karting seems more appealing to many drivers. The CIK are due to announce a plan to combat the issues facing them, and we’ll keep you updated!
