Sodi Team Gets an Early Christmas Present

By Karting1 ~ December 20th, 2011. Filed under: Announcements.

From Taylor International Motorsports

The Taylor International Motorsports Team took an emphatic victory at the last round of the Club Championship at Kimbolton. Ben Palmer and Rob Gilford scored significant points through the heats putting Palmer on Pole for the Final to take a lights to flag victory and in the process snatching the Senior Max Championship title from would-be winner Andrew Winter. Palmer lead comfortably throughout the race and was followed home by Jack Aitken (Tonykart) and new-to-Seniors Bobby Neal. Rob finished 5th to give him 3rd place in the Club Championship with Henry who was taken out at the start making a fantastic comeback to take 7th place over the line putting him in 6th place in the Championship despite missing several races due to his U18 World Championship commitments. A stunning performance not only by Ben but by all the Sodi boys who worked as a Team to achieve the well-deserved result.

In Cadets, Jake Blackledge had strong heats and a good finish in the Final up against the best teams which was enough to bag him 2nd Place in the Club Championship – and on a Sodi too! – a very well-earned result for Jake and Greg which finished his time in cadets nicely as he will be going into minimax next season.

This is a fitting end to a season of fantastic performances from the Sodi Team and thanks go to Ben, Henry, Jake, Piers, Rachel, Rob, Sam and Tom for giving us some memorable performances this year. From Jake winning Cadets and Rob taking 2nd for Senior Max in the Whilton Mill Club Championships, Henry putting it on Pole at the U18 World Championships and finishing 5th overall against some of the best factory kart teams, Rob’s Brazilian Cup win, Jake’s Southern Champs triumph and too many fastest laps to mention – it has been an incredible year’s racing.

Of course, the Team isn’t just about the drivers and I would like to thank Tony for his supertuned engines and Steve McMahon at Shark. Also huge thanks to Greg, Jamie, Peter and Tony for their expert mechanics, to our families, friends and supporters, to Gildas Merrian and Nicola De Cola at Sodikart and last, but definitely not least, to the one-and-only legend that is Tim Taylor. Thank You All.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
