SmartyCam Onboard Camera and Datalogger Tested – Is this the Ultimate Kart Training Tool?
By Karting1 ~ June 15th, 2009. Filed under: Kart Racing News.
Karters have been using onboard cameras like the GoPro for a while, they are great fun and fantastic for kart training, but the SmartyCam blows all other video cameras out of the water – so much so that after we tested it we ordered one for ourselves!
Here is KF3 Super 1 racer Ryan Burns giving the SmartyCam a test at Hooton Park, we had the camera rigged up to a Mychron 4 and an ebox so we could have the throttle position on screen. But in fact, if you just want your speed, lap times and revs you can just plug the SmartyCam straight into your MyChron 4.
The AiM SmartyCam is an on-board camera that integrates with the Mychron 4 to create high quality videos that include overlays of the data from your Mychron (eg rpm) and GPS data from SmartyCam itself. This means that you can see your kart’s speed, laptime, G-force, throttle position etc. on-screen so drivers can see exactly what the effect of different lines has on speed and so on.
Also, the camera produces the same data as the GPS systems that AiM sell, so effectively it has a data logging system built in.
Before you decide to buy a data logger or a camera for your kart, check out the SmartyCam which is a bargain with both built in.

Buy the SmartyCam.

The camera has it’s own screen so you can line it up perfect before you drive
