Friday – CIK KF1 2007 World Karting Championship!
By Karting1 ~ September 21st, 2007. Filed under: Kart Racing News.
It’s Friday of the Karting World Championships, and we have practise analysis. The KF1 grid has been spilt into odd and even numbers.
In Practise 2 for the odd numbers Armand Kozlinski has been setting a rapid pace with Davide ‘always turns it on at the World Championship’ Fore closely behind in 2nd place. TM will be ecstatic there engine is showing some real good pace, and could prove to be a major player this weekend.
In Practise 3 for the odd numbers Kozlinski was no where to be seen, having completed an out lap. We are unsure the cause of his retirement from the session. Fore still sits 2nd in the time sheets, with Sodi Kart driver Floriano leading the pack. However the times do seem to spread out quite far. Hopefully they will close up because the difference between 1st and 2nd in Practise 3 for the odd numbers was 0.235 seconds, and last year with the 100cc engines that was the gap between 1st and 15th in overall qualification.
In Practise 3 for the even numbers Gary Catt has came out top of the time sheets with a 54.028, which is a few tenths of the ultimate pace. We expected the Vortex’s to be quick, but at the moment they are not dominant. Championship favourite Marco Ardigo is 4th quickest 3 tenths off Catt. Maybe it’s not going to plan for Vortex.
In the final practise session for odd numbers Davide Fore showed his class as he posted the fastest time of the session ahead of Brit James Calado. Mark Litchfield also showed some promising pace, but is still .285 off the pace. However early pace setter Kozlinski was no where to be seen. Huh?
Vortex/TonyKart step it up a gear as Ardigo, and Catt post some super fast times in Practise 4 for even numbers. .240 clear of the field in their group, the TonyKart/Vortex team has sent out a strong message. Furthermore Catt showed some superb consistency, and is looking good.

Conclusions from Day 1: Looking ahead to tomorrow it looks as if the main players Ardigo, Catt, and Fore are looking good for a tight battle. But Kozlinski, and a few other drivers look good to spring a surprise or two. Especially Kozlinski who, with the TM, is looking rapid. Qualifying, and heats start tomorrow!
