Super 1 Karting Report - Rowrah June 6/7
It's raining, windy and absolutely freezing - welcome to
Rowrah in June! If you want a nice easy weekend of karting then
Rowrah is not the place for you, put a foot wrong and you will throw
a chain or end up burried in the soggy gravel traps. You can't show
up out of peak physical condition either, this place will beat you
to a pulp - you have to use the steep kerbs here if you want to
be quick.
This means that Rowrah is the place where tough and accurate
drivers shine, and perhaps that's what gives the likes of Mark Litchfield
the edge here.

Rowrah is set in the mountainous countryside of Cumbria
KF1 Final 1
Anyone doubting that KF1 is hardcore would be taught
a lesson after seeing the first laps of the KF1 final. Ben Cooper
and Jordan Lennox-Lamb had a slight coming together at paddock resulting
in Cooper pounding into the tyres on his back and head first closely
followed by his kart.
Something like this at your average clubby would bring
instant red flags, but instead Ben and his kart were dragged away
whilst the race continued. Meanwhile Jonathan Walker's throttle
mechanism was working loose, eventually jamming open and sending
him flat out through the chicane and into the plastic barriers.
This did bring out the red flag in the end so Walker could be attened
to by the medics. Both drivers would brush themselves off ready
for the second final.
Consistent heat results and good pace saw Elliot
Burton on pole for the first KF1 final with hard
charger Richard Bradley on grid 2. Champion Mark Litchfield had
been rapid all weekend but an electrical problem in a heat meant
he started down in fourth behind Lee Bell.

The KF1 starts were crazy as usual!
KF1 starts are always mad and it was Bradley who
got the early advantage from Burton. However it was Mark Litchfield
who was looking best to avenge his poor season start. He soon battled
his way to the front where he could build a big gap to the rest
of the field.

A stuck throttle meant Walker had a huge crash in final
1
Bell tried his utmost to keep up but it wasn't
good enough as a supreme Litchfield got his first win of the season.
A relief to team boss Paul Fletcher who insists they have been working
'extremely hard' all season long.

After showing immense pace throughout Saturday Bradley will want
to get a result soon
KF1 Final 2
In final 2 it was a question of who could topple
Litchfield. Once he had got a clean start it would take a monumental
effort to topple him . However Lee Bell who was in second fell into
the clutches of Ben Cooper and Luke Wright. As they battled Litchfield
continued to lead comfortably. At the finish Litchfield won from
Cooper and then Wright.

A change of engine and chassis saw Litchfield return to winning
ways
KF2 Final 1
Shaun Carter was on pole for the first KF2
final with Fielding in second completing the front row. Championship
contenders Jake Ball and Jordan Chamberlain found themselves low
down the order after frustrating heats. At the start Carter led
but Fielding. However grid 7 man Chamberlain was on the charge on
in third place. Fielding attacked for the lead and Chamberlain followed
him past Carter. But Chamberlain was just too consistent and too
fast and it wasn't long before he was in the lead and building a
decent gap. Chamberlain took the victory from Fielding in second
and Carter in third.

Shaun Carter will be trying harder than ever to defeat Chamberlain
KF2 Final 2
In the second final Chamberlain took the early
advantage from Carter but it wasn't long before Carter made his
way past. Carter's more aggressive driving style looked to give
him that early edge at the start of the race, but as Mr Smooth himself
Chamberlain got his tyres working he found his way back past Carter
and once again went about building a commanding lead. Chamberlain
took another win with Carter in second and Chris Lock in third.

Chamberlain putting in a dominant performance
KF3 Final 1
Alex Albon was on pole for the first KF3
final with championship rival Jake Dennis in second. Jake Dennis
had been supreme all weekend and his pace showed as he found his
way through to first at the Steward Esses. Young Brazilian Guilheme
Silva followed Dennis past Albon.. Into the final turn Silva blasted
his way past Dennis. Silva and Dennis then broke away from Albon
and the rest of the field. It looked as if Silva could gap Dennis
but it seemed as if Dennis had gone lower on his pressures to play
the long game. His pace soon stepped up and he went by Silva and
gapped him quickly building over a second gap. Silva continued to
slide back. At the finish Dennis won with Albon in second and Fielding
in 3rd.

Jake Dennis had a great weekend showing superb pace
KF3 Final 2
In the second KF3 final it was a four way battle
for the lead early on between Jake Dennis, Sennan Fielding, Alex
Albon and Jordan King. Dennis led the group early but was soon swapping
positions with Fielding. But it was Albon who looked ominous. His
team seem to have improved the kart's pace which plagued him in
the first final. He was soon into the lead and managed to gap Dennis
and King. Sennan Fielding was with that chasing group until his
wheel fell off through the first chicane. He was lucky to escape
unhurt. In the end Albon took win with Dennis in second.

Alex Albon bounced back from a dissapointing final 1 to
grab the victory in final 2
Cadet Final 1
Alex Gill and George Russell locked out the front
row of a race that was to turn out to be an epic Cadet
kart first final. It was Russell who took the early lead as Gill
slipped back at the start. Matthew Graham and Russell tried to escape
the chasing pack but to no avail. Soon enough we had a 7 kart train
involving Russell, Graham, T-J Nelson and Sam Vanderpump. Coming
into the final laps Sam Webster made his way to the front with Vanderpump
in second place. However going into the Stewart Esses Vanderpump
made his move but this saw him and Webster run wide and allow Max
Vaughn and Alex Gill to make their way through. This was the first
time Vaughn led the train and he didn't let it slip as he took the
win from Alex Gill in second.

Sam Vanderpump enjoyed a great second final run.
Cadet Final 2
In the second Cadet final a hectic start saw Max
Vaughn inherit a large lead which, as with all Cadet racing, looked
to be reduced by a chasing pack early on. However this wasn't the
case. In fact in the early stages Vaughn extended his lead as chasing
drivers battled for position. But a charging Sam Vanderpump quietly
made his way through the pack .With 2 or 3 laps to go Vaughn still
had a commanding lead but Vanderpump was taking chunks out of his
lead and was soon close enough to Vaughn to take the lead at the
first hairpin. Vaughn then found himself fall into the clutches
of Gill and Sam Webster. An ecstatic Vanderpump took the win with
Alex Gill in another second place finish.
