KF3 Kart Engine Hits The UK, But Fails To Impress- Special Report!

The XTR KF3 kart engine was put through its paces by JICA star Max Goff at Kimbolton on the 10th February. Even thought the XTR KF3 performed well, the KF3 engine failed to impress some spectators who had described it as 'a lot worse than I thought it would be'

The IAME KF3 engine had been tested at PFi just a few weeks ago with some impressive times. However the 'new era' kart engine didn't seem to capture the imagination of some spectators at Kimbolton.

We caught up with JICA's wizkid Max Goff to see what he thought about the new KF3 kart engine.

One comment from an onlooker described the KF3 kart engine as 'it looks ugly, is messy, and sounds like a Rotax'. However the real test will come in a weeks time as the KF1, KF2, and KF3 classes are raced for the first time at the annual Winter Cup at South Garda, Lonato.

Paddock rumour has it that KF3 will not be replacing JICA in the UK until 2009. So it may be a long time before we see these engines here in the UK, but the current official word from the ABKC is steadfast:-

"The ABkC, Super One Series and MSA's stated position is that all the new TAG engines will be introduced to the UK championship series in 2008"
