KF1, KF2, and KF3 UK Winter Series Round 4 - Shenington

With the Winter Cup happening over at Lonato this weekend, there were a couple of notable absences from the 4th round of the UK KF Winter Series, but the competition was still very tough! The weather was superb, and wasn't going to cause any trouble.

However even with a few names missing, the strength of the KF classes shows as many drivers, especially in KF3, still attend.

KF3

KF3 attracted the biggest grid of the day out of the 3 KF classes. It was Jake Dennis who took pole, with Alex Walker in second place. At the lights Jake Dennis got a fantastic start, but an accident at Cafe corner brought out the red flag. The driver involved was Rikki Gordon. Hopefully his injuries were not bad, and he gets back racing soon.

The First KF3 Start Caused a Red Flag Incident

At the restart Dennis got the jump, but it was a fiery Sam Blake who muscled his way into second place from grid 5. Ashley Sutton lay in 3rd, and managed to get past Blake into the hairpin. He was soon on the hunt for Dennis, who at this point had pulled out a small gap.

After a few laps Sutton and Blake had caught Dennis. Sutton made his move at the hairpin and grabbed the lead from Dennis, but no sooner had he taken the lead, Dennis made his way through again. Blake still lay close in 3rd waiting for his opportunity.

Sam Blake was in Awesome Form

With only a couple of laps left Sutton made a strong move on Dennis and grabbed first at Wilkins. The last lap board came out and it was Sutton from Dennis, and then Blake. As the karts disappeared into Wilkins for the last time, only one man emerged – Sam Blake. His patience had paid off,. Dennis, and Sutton tangled, and Sam Blake took his first KF3 win.

KF2

Once again, Jake Ball showed his fantastic form as he stuck his kart on pole position, with Josh Fielding in second. Harry Drysdale and Raymie Eastwood made up the second row.

At the green lights Ball made an instant push for the lead, with Fielding slotting into second. Ball wasn't going to have it all his own way, and Fielding started to take some time out of him over the following laps. Around lap 6 Fielding made his move for the lead at the hairpin. However, his go at glory was short lived as Ball returned the favour a lap later to retake the lead.

Jake Ball Continues to Dominate KF2 Category

Meanwhile, Tom Joyner had joined the party. It wasn't long before he was on the tale of Fielding. A close battle entailed, which allowed Ball to make a break. Joyner managed to grab second place away from Fielding, and that's how it stayed until the chequered flag. Ball took another win in KF2!

KF1

The KF1 grid of just 5 karts, was small enough to have them run in with the KF2 final. Nick Yelloly was on pole, with Dennis Gorman in second. At the start Yellowly grabbed the lead, and 3rd place starter Elliot Burton slotted into 2nd. Lennox-Lamb who started 4th found himself in 5th, but his pace was too much as he started to carve his way through the 5-man field. It wasn't long before he climbed into 1st place.

As the KF1's caught the back of the KF2 grid, it all got a bit manic with regards to who was where. However, Lennox-Lamb kept his cool as he took the win from Elliot Burton, with Nick Yelloly in 3rd.
