Found out I get to play with a brand new Maxter KF2 Twin Torpedo in a couple of weeks. I've never actually run a KF so I'm looking for pointers.
-Typical oil used and ratio
-Run in\break-in proceedure for a new motor
-Typical power band (ie dont let it drop below xRPM if you can help it)
-Any other general tuning tips, especially powervalve tips
-Is the exhaust length typically used to tune them?
I'm in the US so there's not a whole lot of info over here on these! I can use my FA experience to get the carb tuned but the rest I'm not so sure on. Gonna be weird to hit a wall at 15,000 RPM. |

Can only really comment on the driving aspect. The main thing I'd say is the bottom end power really is that bad and the mid-range is really that stupid AND the rev limiter literally stops the acceleration dead.
As with any engine if you drop out the power band you are in trouble. Even my FA is the same, but with the KF2 I found that if I dropped out I was in big trouble. _________________ Karting1.co.uk - Karting1 Twitter - Karting1 Facebook |

We used a Synthetic/Castor blend at 4%, 1 litre of oil to every 25 litres. Running in is fairly simple, plenty of choke and slowly build up to full pace after one run. Bottom end is crap, slower than a max, then goes mental mid range and then brick wall at 15000! _________________ Formula K - JRMotorsport

| By unlimited I mean no rev limt. What did Super KF use? For all of the two weeks that it ran LOL I'll be entering this thing in an open class so I can do whatever I want to it. |

SKF was limited to 16,000rpm as per KF1 regulations. TBH it was so long ago, and such a short lived class, I couldn't tell you the details of what differentiated it from KF1 We've had 3 or 4 difference versions of KF1 now. lol _________________ Karting1.co.uk - Karting1 Twitter - Karting1 Facebook |
