How to do them?
My driver has great race pace but always gives a place or 2 away at the start and gets bogged down for the first 50 yds or so
How can we stop this happening?
Tkm extreme.

Watch the pace-setters feet and roll into the throttle as soon as you see his foot move. Pinching the fuel line to get it a little lean can help too.

When I'm running the X30, it doesn't always get off the line real quick, so I try and watch the feet of the driver near me and beat them to the throttle.

Not sure what the power delivery is like on the TKM, but a lot of times, rolling into the throttle more progressively can be better than just stomping on the pedal and bogging the engine down.

The trick is to accelerate early. Disguise it by being so close to the guy in front that you're touching. You may not gain places, but you hopefully won't lose them. The inside line in the first corner is generally the safest place to be to maintain position too.

I actually like to lay back about 6 inches off the front guy's bumper so I can get a little run going and be accelerating before the leaders.

ok, so when do you release it? just trying to get an idea of the timing , imagain coming out of a hairpin, coming up towards the start/finish line, say 50 yds,,,,tell me how you would be doing this on the way to the start flag:
when pinch/when release? how much throttle while pinching? how to handle the trottle when you stop pinching etc - all this assuming youre on the bumper of the guy in front?

It's all about feel. You need to feel how the kart is accelerating to know how much to lean the fuel/pinch the line. In our Komet class, similar to a TKM I think, we all run the carb about 1 turn leaner on the starts than we do at racing speed because it bogs so bad on the low end. So for that class you've got to have your hands on the needle and begin to richen it up as you accelerate for the start. Pinching the fuel line does the same thing but to a lesser effect. So you've just gotta feel it man.

Just as I start accelerating, I don't change by what the last corner is like. Pinch just after you blast round and line up, we go round very slow at Kim, don't think it really matters, as much as the guy in front. I just gradually feed it but fairly aggressively. Yeah I'm on his bumper unless he's being an idiot and leaving a big gap. I may be completely wrong with this, I see some people not touch theirs and they get away fine, I think you're better looking at what is happening around you and trying to get a good run like that and reacting well.

with two strokes you dont want to be riding the throttle either on the rolling up laps as this will cause the engine to 'oil up' which results in bogging at the start. So on the rolling up lap, either be full throttle or no throttle.

Regarding the pipe pinching, pinch it once the grid has slowed down, and keep it pinched until you exit the final corner. then you should release it and keep doing the on off throttle
