I`d say go for it......if you`ve got a class to race it in which is pretty local....but if it`s an open class be prepared for the fact that some of the very quick ones may have had serious money spent on them..

downside is the cost of the clutch. otherwise should be good pretty much bog standard.clone engines come for under£250 new.

Granted I've only ever driven one thunderkart, but I felt it was way out of balance having such a heavy engine on one side. Heavier on the braking, and the seat has to be moved way over to fit the engine on.
To get to the top of an open class, like posted above you'll have to spend well over £1500 even to get close.
I know some guys that are making big HP with the GX390's, but it just seems like a waste when you can buy a 16Hp 7700RPM Sealed Super GX200 for £600 and go racing.
Thanks,

in general i think the place for the 390 gx kart is as a single engined machine running basically standard engines at about 2 secs faster than an msa prokart. you will spend a lot to get the performance of a tkm etc . and probably collect a load of failed parts . imo if you want a high performance racing engine ,buy one in the first place.

however karter dan's sealed 200 is interesting. stretton results show these faster than an msa prokart (on open tyres at 150kg.) anybody like to comment on running one of these good or bad. what about vat.

Now we're talking...
Thanks for the positive comments, it looks like we shall have a 10 kart grid for the 15th which is looking good.
We're really pushing it, and we have ellough park onboard for next year as well. A championship spread across a variety of circuits could be interesting!
At the moment, they're set at £600.00 all included. If you're close you can pick it up, or the courier is roughly £35 insured.
We're roughly 1.5 seconds quicker than the top MSA Honda prokarts, and a second a lap quicker than a subaru 7.5hp prokart. Which on a 30 second lap is a lot. On the carosel layouts I wouldn't be surprised if the gap opened up another half second.
Let me know if you're up for it, we should have another 4 engines sorted before next meeting.
Thanks,

The super 200's are great the reason i chose it was because its sealed which makes it close and competative. (even with it on a pro kart chassis i really enjoyed it) _________________ Thanks for the help
