About to have my first run in my senior blue but just want to check some basic settings?
What do I set the following to:
Tyres, slicks and wets
oil/fuel mixture and whats the best oil
coolant, how much and whats best to use
carb settings
Anything else specific to a formula blue that I probably wouldnt know.
Cheers |

I found this helpful when running in my engine (gives recommended carb settings too);
http://www.planetkarting.co.uk/display_page.asp?page_id=70
After the running in period I use Castrol A747 with a mixture of 1:20.
I just use water as coolant, filled up to the top, with some anti-freeze in winters. Not sure if this is the proper way as I've just started myself
I think the blues are pretty simple... just remember to disconnect the battery when not in use. Can't think of anything else at the mo |

Re the oil mix - I was told by Tabor that using a semi synthetic mix - ie 15% Castrol 747 with 85% synthetic oil increases the engine life considerably. I have done this over some time and the engine is running very well. I use 60ml to one litre and run a slightly rich mix as I am using the kart for fun and not racing - I'm only using 15500rpm for the same reason.
I use a BR10EG plug without any oiling problems. Water temp should be 65 degrees |

"Tyres, slicks and wets" are you using le conts if so 8-12 in slicks, 10-25 in wets try and test see what you feel you like the best then adjust to see if it makes you quicker, find a balance!!
oil/fuel mixture and whats the best oil -ran castrol 747 for last 4 years with blue 200ml to 5 litres of standard unleaded, ran 40 hours on engines without touching them
coolant, how much and whats best to use - water is best to use neat just dont forget to drain it if expecting cold as it can freeze and split engine
carb settings - one and a half out on both jets if running a restrictor, if not run it slightly less
Anything else specific to a formula blue that I probably wouldnt know.
- enjoy it |
