Hi,
I just require a quick run down on specifications of the 2007 model JKH chassis vs. 2008 model as JKH aren't being very helpful and i cant find any info what so ever anywhere online.
I believe the homlogation changes in 2010 so does this mean the 2008 chassis design is exactly the same as the 2007?
Also as far as bodywork is concerned i am interested soley in the unico pods. I have seen 2007 chassis's with this along with the JKH stickers (as opposed to the intrepid ones on new age bodywork)
I am finding it difficult to get any info from anywhere about what these chassis's include from new and just need someone who has knowledge of either the latter 2007 chassis/2008 chassis in comparison to the 2007 earlier 'unico podded' chassis to help me.
Thankyou. |

The 2008 model will be the same as the 2007 chassis, they are only allowed to change minor things on them so if anything, the type of welds or the metal compound may be different but nothing severe like a whole new chassis design.
As for the pods, Our JKH which is a 07 came with unico pods but that was at the start of the year and all the ones I've seen since have come with the other pods (think they're called freeline).
The kart will come with the Intrepid brake on them but we had serious binding problems with ours and reverted back to the old wildkart brake from the 04-06 JKH karts but other people have had no problems with the intrepid one so test them first before changing if you need to.
Hope this helps. |

ive just ordered a brand new 08 jkh and should be getting it in a couple of weeks.
i phoned jkh up and asked were there any changes and the answer was no(although interestingly i couldnt get hold of an 07 chassis for the same price as i was getting the o8 chassis) which is possibly more to do with who im getting it from id imagine as jkh themselves were "playing me with a straight bat" to use a cricketing term
i did have the option of the unico or new style pods for an extra £50 so i imagine the fixings are the same.i went for unico initially but on seeing the kart with the new body work i decided i wanted to be a kart tart!

I have the 2008 JKH and the only difference from the 2007 version is the main brake system. _________________ KZ2 - #20

ah got ya.is this the wild kart break system that people liked?
i thought the breaks on my haase werre great(runner) but it was just unfortunate that it dived about SO much under breaking that i had to break slightly early in order to be able to control it!
so maybe ill think they are awesome!

I noticed at KartMania that the master cylinder on the JKH has changed _________________ Ayrton Senna - "You will never know the feeling of a driver when winning a race. The helmet hides feelings that cannot be understood"

I have the late 06-07 intrepid system on my kart and think its absolutely gash. really bad at stopping the kart, the feel just isn't there at all. The late 07-08 system has just changed the master cylinder which is supposed to give more feel, we will have to see though ehy.
As for the karts I think the 08 JKH will be a very good kart, yes its in homologation but the difference between the 06 and 07 made a few people change karts this year as they didn't lke the newer models, still however a quick kart. I think the intention for the 08 model is to build it the same as the 06 version or very similar.
Best thing about the kart is its durable and is very strong. Massive advantage over most chassis' out there. One thing to watch though on the JKH is the stub axles, they have little designer holes on the drag arm which weaken the arm a little and make them prone to cracking, nothing a little weld can't sort though. Also check your rear bumpers for cracking, although the sleeve designed bumper works well it is again prone to cracking and its worth using a method to keep it together if it does crack.
Overall you can't go wrong with a JKH. Awesome in the hot, hard to get right in the cold but fast when you do get it right and quick in the wet, just needs seup work doing on it. Sod all this stick any setup on the kart and its quick, the best karts need setup changes. |

At Shenni my judder wasn't that bad at all, I think because I don't use the top hole on the master cylinder (I use the 3rd hole down), which means you have to stamp a lot more on the brakes, makes them a lot less effective but I prefer to stamp on them more and try to make them work rather than they just lock haha. When I test next I might try the 2nd hole down, might actually be a compromise and make the brakes work a bit better.
Awesome corner though at Shenni, one of my favs after the first corner at GYG. |

well ive just ordered the 08 from kartmania, so see how it goes, if the brakes are cack i might have to whack on the wildkart ones from my max.
Also - slightly offtopic but wot the hey, i heard that extreme is 148KG, does anyone know of a ballast limit on a kart as i weigh 50KG and with the kart being roughly 70KG i can see me needed somewhere around 25-28 KG of lead. im hoping theirs some rules in place to allow me to run with a maximum amount of lead on the kart |
