Having just started to collect info with a EGT sensor I would be keen to learn about anybody’s experience in interpreting this kind of data to see if I am on the right lines.
From what I can see the EGT tends to rise in proportion with rpm, provided the mixture stays the same. After around 12500rpm (about 700C) the timing change results in a lower EGT (as a results of a leaner burn?)
A leaner mixture seemed to show up as a lower EGT for the same rpm and in this case that was caused at wide open throttle by a smaller main jet (155 vs 158) and also over the whole range by the engine being slightly cooler (which was not indented!)
Just wondering if anybody out there had any words of wisdom or further tips on using this type of information. Or correct me if I have got it all wrong so far! The next step I thought useful would be to run a throttle position sensor to see the effects in more useful detail. (I am also about to get some jetting software, but also want to do some testing like this to get a better understanding of how it all works and what to aim for!)
Also i dont know of way of uploading a screen shot of this data to this site, (is there a way?) but if anybody wants to see it i would be happy to email it.
