05 rotax max faster than 08 why?

Forgive me for asking a silly question but, Laughing
My otk venox 2005 rotax max revs freely and pulls my head off Laughing and feels faster than my low hours and use recently bought otk evrr 2008 rotax max Rolling Eyes , same gear ratios same jets, just differant air boxes is it really the air box?

Did you have the same float set up in the carbs?? Could just be a quicker motor or even better set up chassis

Hmmm, not checked the float settings whats best?

the 05 is orginal never rebuilt goes really well.

the 08 done 8 hrs or so thats it. Very Happy

Removing the factor of chassis and set up it's perfectly reasonable to assume one engine is just better than the other. No manufacturer can build identical engines and there's an acceptable tolerance between engines.

the 05 was a better motor than the 08 in most cases.

I have an 08 and the bottom end punch isn't great but its got very good top end.
I have a 10 and the motor is more drivable off the corners.

The newest barrels are pretty good too.

depends what track you go to depends what engine i would choose.

you probably have a very good 05 motor. they can be quite sought after

There are some very good 05 engines out there we have 2 within the team and both are very strong,

2008 wasn't a great year at all in general

You need to test them both on the same chasis to get a proper comparison

07 was generally good, prob the safest bet apart from the o9 onward barrels.
