Mo, just realised in my description of when the reeds seal my piston stroke was arse about face. Reeds should be closed on the down stroke forcing fuel/air mix into chamber as it exhausts hence the unburnt fuel in exhaust. Reeds open on compression stroke drawing in next batch of fuel/air mix.

Reed block would be between stuffer and engine, it didn't stay 'stuck' to engine did it?

I am guessing and it is a guess that a standard reed block would fit, MA0040 from Dartford but buy carbon reeds too. Am sure if you took it all to Dartford they could help. Phone before you go as engine guy isn't always in.

tim i had to check again if there was a reed block to put my mind at rest. There is no reed block between the stuffer block and the engine, when i took the stuffer block off i could see directly into the conrod internals etc.

I should get on to Dartford karting tomorrow morning then. Talk to them before about 3 in afternoon and it will be with you on Tuesday.

Hopefully the info I am giving isn't too far from correct, looking at how many people have viewed this thread I'm sure someone would have jumped in and put me right if I was wrong.

As I said if you wanted more reassurance you could try the Facebook group but Dartford will see you right if you talk to them.

well ive spoke to the guy who i bought the engine off and when i bought it he said the internals were complete,so he is going to try and get me a reed block and send it to me,so at least then will only have to buy the carbon reeds and not the block aswell. Laughing Laughing
