My kart is stored in an underground garage.
Always covered up but the crome has recently started to show spots of rust.
What is the best way to stop this getting any worse.
Spray the crome and frame with WD40 ?
Thanks.

WD40 would do the job, just don't get it on your wheels etc. Can also just keep up with the kart and clean it regular and make sure your axle has something on it to prevent rust, wd40 will do that job.

Give all the chrome a good polish with autosol then maybe leave a thin layer on the chrome work without polishing off untill you come to use it, if that fails autosol will defo get the rust away, use scotch cloth to apply and scrub in then anti static cloth to polish off

I thought WD40 softened tyres, not made them slippy?

I was going to try it next test day actually, as I wanted to use up the last of my tyres as they've gone hard Razz

If you're up for real fun you can also put oil on the back two tyres! Wink

Yeah it can still go on the wheels though, we use it to put tyres on when we haven't got any tire paste

Full sugar coke works as a tyre softener too. Really really weird feeling in the first 3/4 laps, but after that the tyres do actually give a bit more grip. Petrol is apparently the same, never tried that though.

WD40 does soften tires and ad grip, for a short time. Smile Dirt track guys used to use WD40 on tires all the time. We just put on new tires. Smile
