|

| Just wondering what the pros and cons of these TaG engines are, really interested in racing with a TaG engine, heard that they were slower than the DD's but had recently been updated so there were no differences in power? Or have I heard wrong? |

I'd also really like to know the opinions on this, especially since I'm in the process of possibly buying an engine! TaG would make life a bit more convenient, but are there really any noticable differences in performance that should take precedence? _________________ Kiss my Asphalt! |

I know there was a significant performace diffrence between DD and TAG, TAG was about a second slower at larkhall, i kow talko improved the TAG but the guy with a TAG at larkhall moved to DD so im unsure of the performance now.
I beleive they are fairley similar now though, could be wrong though.
My personal opinion of TAG is there is just so muchmore to go wrong with it like wiring and batteries etc so i would just stick with a DD or a Clucthed motor.

I'm tending to agree with the fact that keeping it simple will be much easier to deal with, and I'd be quite happy to learn to bump start properly over forking out for clutch or starter related issues. _________________ Kiss my Asphalt! |

| We have run a TAG and i would offer the following comments - no difference in power output but slightly different delivery which unless you are very experienced you will not notice. If you are ok on the weight its a viable option but you MUST ensure you have a good battery plus spare. We also found that a hand held starter was more powerful and spun the motor over far quicker than the onboard one. Also check all the loom connections very very closely pre meeting!! |

| we run tag engines and have had no electrical failure in 2 years ,they do come up heavy so you have that issue on weight but you can now use your own wiring loom and light weight battery and use a lighter battery mount so could shve 3 or 4 kg off |

so how much weight does a TaG engine actually add over a DD? (I'm just over 80kg on my own so adding unnecessary weight won't be doing me any favors) On top of that, can you describe at all the difference in power delivery? is it more gradual, less violent, i.e is there some slip and do you feel it's a disadvantage at all?
Naturally experienced racers will be able to make either go fast, but what happens when you stick your average club racer in the driving seat who may make the odd mistake, do you suffer more from a DD (what I've heard somewhere else) or is there really no difference? _________________ Kiss my Asphalt! |

Tag engines with standard battery are 6kg
Heavier than dd. the power is lower down
so you can run 1 or 2 tooth smaller depending
How good the driver is , the engine is restricted
to 16500 max so if the chain breaks you do not
kill the engine |
