Hi folks,
Can anybody help me, i need to change the clutch on my son's honda cadet, I'm new to karting and I'm not sure how to take the old one off, does anybody know how to do this, the kart is a Honda cadet GX160 with a magnum clutch and the engine mounted on the right hand side of the chassis.
Thank you.

just doing that wont work as it will just turn the crank.

i do it by looking bettwen the block and engine cover then pull the pull starter slowley until u see a gap in the fly wheel then jam a flat head screw driver and then undo the nut on the clutch.

Ok if you want to be exact you need to make up a tool that you fit into the holes in the clutch shoes to use as a lock

or just use an impact gun and it will undo straight away, trust me we have done a few.

Thanks everyone, I've managed to get it off using the screwdriver in the flywheel technique.. Smile

Hi,

This is the way I do it.

Buy one of these off of eBay - 221079423154
Remove spark plug & insert piston stop.
pull engine over until piston rests on the piston stop
remove bolt & clutch.
And works very nicely when you want to put the clutch & clutch bolt back on, and give you a chance to get the right torque setting.

HTH! Very Happy

Ian.

The way i did mine was i removed the side cover both parts and it will expose a nut that i held with a socket bar thingy and then you can undo the clutch nut. best with 2 people 1 to hold the nut and the other to undo the clutch.
Hope this helps

if you use a 1/2 inch ring or better combination spanner on the 5/16 unf setscrew and impact the other end of the spanner it will release the set screw against the inertia of the flywheel.

Im partial to the piston stop personally, we use one (not sure if its specific for our engines or just universal for all petrol engines with the same spark plug thread)

For what they cost they guarantee the engine wont spin and wont damage anything
