Hi
Does the length of the HT lead make any difference? The reason I ask is because it seems a bit short now I have fitted coil lifting bracket.
Does the cap come fitted, or is it separate?

There is a minimum length in the Rotax regs but the lead doesn't actually amke any difference that is noticeable.

The lead is available as an individual length, it just unscrews from the cap and coil.

There was this theory that making it as short as possible would advance the ignition spark.

Well, 9 inches of lead and the speed of light being 186,00 mph, you can work out in picoseconds just how much you would gain, and it won't win you a race but it keeps the b***s****ers happy!

When does the misfire occur rev wise.

A not well known fault is the red square washer inside the white coil plug is either missing or round the wrong way.

The thin side fits up inside the coil.

Other causes can be the battery crimp connectors and the on/off switch if it's one of the useless new style micro switches.

Water and damp gets into them if you don't keep them covered with WD40 as the contacts are open to the atmosphere.

Is it just a random misfire or can you narrow it down?

Is the battery mounted on the chassis rail?

This type of fitting can damage the battery internal connections.

Its about 10k,it didn't do it when I first had it and I haven't messed with the loom,but I will check the washer you said.
So far I have checked and found no problems-carb floats, carb needle, jets, fuel pump, loom,filter, tank pick up, reed valve, earth strap.
Have changed plug and gapped,plug c ap seemed to be full of a black substance, so have cleaned out with electrical cleaner. Have ordered new gap and lead ,but they haven't arrived yet.
Taking it tomorrow, but its frustrating because I can't check if it works until I get to track.
