Hi all, So I'm coming back to TKM after a long stint in Formula Blue, and my new local track is Whilton Mill. I'm just wondering what kind of grids are there? I won't get a chance to go down and see a meeting for a while but will be keen to either use them, Shenington or Little Rissi to get my monthly racing fix. What are the grids like for these places? My old local Clay Pigeon has some pretty poor grids of recent times.. just heard at the last clubby there was even only 5 karts in rotax!

Also, It has been a while, how long do the maxxis tyres last nowadays? and can someone give me an idea of whereabouts to start with the jetting?

I've already managed to acquire an extreme TAG engine, and will use my old CIK chassis with a few mods to make it legal and save cash, so hopefully will be out for some testing in the next couple of months!

Clay had 15! TKM extremes on the grid last time out, and it is growing.
the TKM guys at clay are a good bunch of lads and i have enjoyed racing with them so far this season, there is 4 or 5 novices out there so there will be some one to race with.

as far as the tyres go the New age tyres last 2-3 meeting depending on budget and if you want to win.

as far as jetting goes, the standard jetting of 2 turns on the low jet and quarter-half on the high have been good for me and never had any problems with the engine.

if you have the time to get the kart ready come down to clay this saturday and test, I'm going to be there and i would imagine a few other TKM guys will be there.

Absolutely no grid at Whilton now, Rissy and Shenny are good but Kim seems to just top them, but depends on which one is closest to you. Tyres last, depending on the days you do, about what Sam said 2/3 meetings, probably nearer 2 though now they seem to like changing the compound lately that's why a lot of lap records are falling. Personally jetting for me is 2 and half on low and 10 on high, but for a TAG that could be different, not too sure.

I've just been informed of an inter-club tkm championship run between a few circuits in my area! not sure how I'd not heard of this before, but anyway, just wondering if there are any other sneaky champs going around that I don't know about?

And I've just heard of the rumors that've cropped up about the possibility of rules changing to allow torsion bars and castor/camber changes. This really does provide me with a situation. As I want to initially use my CIK chassis as used in Blue from before to start off, but I don't want to have to weld in the torsion bar only to have to rip it out again in some months time!

Buying a seperate TKM specific chassis could be an option if it was cheap, but all I'm concerned of is being on or off the pace. Ultimately if the CIK chassis can't keep up (I have little reason to believe it won't except that i've heard that virtually noone runs them in TKM) then it would mean buying a specific TKM version.

i run a CIK chassis with no welded in front bar and natural camber and it seems to be fine, just out of curiosity do you still have a Blue engine ? and what is your closest circuit? if its clay you might want to come down next weekend as there is the 5th round of the club championship and you will get a feel for grid sizes and pace of the karts, i know that most of the Clay TKM boys run normal CIK chassis with front bars either welded in or just left as a CIK chassis
