Hi guys,

I've noticed the exhaust bracket (located just behind the brake disc) and the radiator bracket on my sons kart has cracked so I need to get new ones. Where could I get spares from ?

Many thanks

Neil

it depends where you are in the county to be honest, if you mean the exhaust bracket that goes into the hole on the chassis and then has a small hole through it for a bolt then you can pick these up from most kart spares places/ebay etc, they then normally have a cup type holder for the exhasut to sit in.
The radiator bracket if its the black one is meant to be the proper formula blue one from tabor, if you do not race then you could make your own, try to use a rubber mounting on both to reduce the vibrations, that what cracks them

Thanks for your reply. Yes it is the exhaust bracket you're describing. The radiator bracket I've seen as part of a kit for £24, but it's only the single bracket that's broke, not all three. They're both gone at the weak points, so I suspect that this will be a regular occurence. My son wants to get into racing this year, so they will have to be the correct ones.

Cheers

Hmm...

I just made my own brackets using bits and pieces that i had to hand. Taylor58, are you 100% sure about needing the tabor radiator mount to be legal for racing? I can't find any reference to this in the yearbook. I hope i'm not going to have to fork out another £50 just to satisfy some silly rule.

Are you reffering to the mount that runs down the spine of the radiator or the little steat stay looking thing that links the whole radiator unit to the left hand cassette bearing?

I've been out of the class for a year now but if it's the first one then I'm sure Chris (Taylor58) is correct in saying you need the one from tabor.

I've still got the spine part. That came with the radiator. Annoyingly, its now in two pieces as i used it to make my own mounts. If its just that bit that i need to be legal, then i'm sure i'll be able to get away with bracing and welding it back together - easy. I'll be doubly annoyed if that's not legal though since it will be structurally sound (more so than the orginal) and provide no performance benefit.

Spine asside, i trust i can otherwise mount the radiator as i please, provided that its on left and uses standard hoses as per the MSA yearbook.

To be honest iv never seen this checked and as long as you are not using something mindblowingly obvious that its different then you will be fine, dont paint it yellow or anything thats all Smile

but the bracket is normally about 45-50, keep eye out for someone selling a spare rad that has left brackets on!! haha you can get them £25 ish if the person trying to get rid:-)

I'll keep things subtle then. And, considering the radiator is so exposed, it seems like a good idea to get a spare. I'll keep an eye out. Thanks.
