Why Sir, what eagle eyes you have!
Well, it’s not there anymore: cannot think what might have happened to it.

Finally got out in the kart today to test these new tyres but it all went wrong Smile, Rednal sunday race : damp and greasy, missed the 1st practice, qualifying went out on wets and binned a few times, missed the 1st heat due to sprocket and chain mishap, 2nd heat went ok as I started 18th, 3rd heat binned it into a chicane at full speed (bent track rod & steering colum), last heat was going to by the only dry session so I wacked on a brand new set of these new icc tyres and a rotax spun me on the 3rd corner of the 1st lap followed by another rotax that then cliped one of my front wheels (snapped both my track rods clean off). Another brilliant day at rednal but that's racing for you.

Looking forward to getting some more pre season testing in so I can actually test these new tyres and one without any incidents Very Happy

Here’s another one for the grid, featuring birel’s special new Aixro livery. Wink

Poor (phone) camera work in bad light, unfortunately, but better track-side pics to hopefully follow soon. And, yes, the nassau panel isn't straight either.

I wish!
Wrote off my car so currently am without transport and race budget will have to go on a replacement! If that all gets sorted sharpish - you neveer know...

Anyone else noticed that AiM are inviting other 4 strokes to enter the series now that they are selling the Swissauto engine...

Sorry to read that, Martyn. May the lottery gods be kind to you.

Yes, I did see that about the SA, and heard about it when it was still at the discussion stage.

I was – and to some extent still am – in two minds on this. On the one hand, I don’t like losing the ‘purity’ of Wankel-only racing and our numbers were already looking quite respectable. On the other, it’s a case of the more the merrier provided the friendly atmosphere is not compromised. Besides, the larger “our” number is, the more buying power we have. In the case of spectacular success we can always switch to having separate grids.

On balance, therefore, my vote goes in favour. Others?

my understanding - and correct me if i'm wrong - is that the non Aixro's would have to be running front brakes too?

I've seen 2 SA's in action - and neither had these fitted.

I think that bilands, swisauto's, vampires and tech f1 karts shouldn't have front brakes to keep costs down and keep it on as much of a level playing field as possible.

The aixro's on their own and the other 4-stoke karts all race together, that's the idea. I'm all for it as some tracks require to be hired out such as three sisters so by having larger numbers makes it a lot easier to secure tracks plus it just makes more of an event I think.

The more the merrier Very Happy i hope. I could be really good. re getting track time. More practice days, more race days

The Swiss auto 250 interested me when i was looking around for a reliable, powerful engine. Didn't like the sound of a cam belt on their previous incarnation, the Biland. The SA 250 still needs a rebuild fairly regularly though, when i called the factory they said around 35-40 hours (i seem to remember?) which surprised me and didn’t match what I’d read. I went for the Aixro as it's, well a great all round package Very Happy

At least the SA250's will be able to run unrestricted at 40hp instead of limited to 35hp(with 30mm carb) to run with the Biland’s. 40hp in a relatively heavy kart could benefit from front brakes.

Whereas the Aixro can run for quite a while without attention

http://www.ekartingnews.com/viewtopic.php?t=77217&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15

I heard the US Dirt racers are running tuned Aixro's in the Outlaw series at around 70+hp

Any of you guys coming to Rissington this Saturday for the Aixro test?

http://www.rissykartclub.com/

Weather forecast is dry every day this week and weekend

Alex

P.S. I understand the Swiss Auto 250's wont be racing with the Aixro's. They'll be with Bilands etc, so limited to match Biland power output. Therfore no need for front brakes.
Another benifit is that for Swiss Auto/Biland etc they can race with no MSA license in an AIM motorsport series, just like us in the Aixro's.
