Hi
Im new to karting and Im starting out in Blue in 2007. Ive got my kart ready now but I still havent been able to get out yet. Does anyone know whats happening with Hooton Park?
I havent got my MSA license yet so I cant practice at 3S before taking my test (as I obviously want a few outings on me new kart before jumping straight in to take my Arks test!)
Is there anywhere else that allows non MSA drivers to test around here? I know GYG does but its a bit of a treck from here (Southport) and the weather is a bit unpredicable at the moment!
Thanks
Russ |

Hi Russ,
I am also new to Formula Blue this year. I used to kart a few years ago so am practically starting again.
I ran my engine in at GYG on Saturday. I had a brilliant time, its a great track and the people are really friendly.
One problem I had was getting the starter motor to turn over. Ash Davies told me this is a common problem. A tip he gave me was to lift the rear of the kart and give it a gentle drop to try and free it. It worked for me. The problem seemed to go away so I don't know if it was a bedding in issue.
Another problem I had was that the Low Tension connection to the coil kept coming off, which meant I had to hold it in place until I could get back to the pits. Gave it a bit of a crimp and it seems to hold now.
These were only minor problems though, easily fixed. The engine seems really good.
I am hoping to go up to Hooton when it opens too.

Hi Tim
I was reading through the Lynx instalation manual in another thread posted on here. It does say in there that they recommend using tape on the LT lead to stop it from coming off. I'll have to do this before I go out!
I'll be going over to trax this weekend to run my engine in if the weather is ok (GYG is a bit far to drive to find its lashing down with rain - I want it dry for my first time out!) |

Hi Russ,
Yeah, it will be easier in the dry.
I mowed a lot of GYG free of charge . It was excellent practice though. I was driving around on my old TKM wets (the green variety) from several years ago.
I think the Le Cont tyres are stickier.
