Karting Legend Davide Fore On How to Drive a Kart Like a World Champion

Our karting man in the States Shawn Campbell, caught up with the driver regarded as one of the best ever kart racers and asks him how to drive a kart fast!

The interview is short but what Shawn has extracted from Fore is PURE KARTING GOLD so pay close attention to what the Tony Kart man had to say!

While I was at the KMI kart show at St. Charles, I got a chance to talk to three time world Karting Champion driver, Davide Fore. Even though his english wasn't excellent, he gave me some good responses to which I have summed up. Heres how it went:

Shawn: So, are you racing primairly in europe this year, or are you going to come here to the US?

Davide Fore: Yes, we will be racing mostly in Europe, although I don't have time to race here in the United States.

Shawn: Yeah, the CIK World Championships and the European CIK world championships are a lot of preperation and hard work. How would you describe how you drive that has gotten you to all of your world championships?

Davide: I try to be as Smooth as possible. When I go into a corner, I turn the wheel enough to get to the Apex, but then I make sure I have the wheel centered in the corner as much as possible. I brake very smoothly coming into the corners.

Shawn: With all the rubber down in European circuits, I certainly would be bouncing around in the corners

Davide: If the kart bounces around, then that is because you haven't been smooth enough and carried RPM through the corner. If the RPM drops, then the kart can bounce

Shawn: What is the grippiest track you have been on?

Davide: Probably Braga in Portugal, and maybe LaConca (Italy). Jesolo (Italy) gets very grippy as well. People two wheel through the corners, and if you let off the gas, then you can turn over.

Shawn: Wouldn't want to do that!

Shawn: So, do you think the driving aspect of karting is very important?

Davide: Yes, in a kart, you don't have suspension and the steering is very quick, so if you don't drive well, then you won't be fast.

He then went to showing me on the LCD screen (which was playing a video of him on his Tony Kart) then he showed me how his hands were straight at the apex of the corners. His inside rear wheel was up and the kart looked perfect. Obviously, he knows how to drive a racing kart.
